OpenRockets Press is a publishing platform for creators between the ages of 6 and 19. It allows students to share original work across categories such as art, research, inventions, design, writing, and software.
The platform brings together publishing opportunities in one place, including student publishers, academic journals, formal publishing organizations, artwork publishers, competitions, state competitions, private organizations, hackathons, exhibitions, and showcases from around the world. Instead of searching for these opportunities individually, users can discover and submit their work through a single publishing workflow.
OpenRockets Press also maintains a public archive of accepted work. When an artifact is accepted by a publisher, competition, journal, or organization through the platform, it can be added to this archive. Each archived artifact receives a permanent, unique identifier, which allows it to be referenced, cited, and accessed over time. This makes it possible for researchers, educators, authors, and other professionals to cite the work of young creators in research papers, books, and other publications.
To publish on the platform, click "Publish." New users are guided through a registration process using OpenRockets Accounts. Once an account is set up, users can upload an artifact, provide the required information, and submit it to selected publishers or opportunities.
OpenRockets Accounts are hosted in secure data centers in the United States. Sensitive information is encrypted both in transit and at rest, and access is restricted through multiple layers of security. User data is not sold or treated as a product.
OpenRockets was founded as a nonprofit initiative to help young people share their work without financial barriers. As the platform grew, it became a corporate entity to support larger infrastructure and expand internationally, while keeping the publishing service free for students. OpenRockets Press remains free to use.
Work that can be published on the platform includes artworks, research papers, inventions, engineering projects, scientific discoveries, 3D models, sculptures, posters, club materials, graphic designs, brochures, flyers, presentations, educational resources, software projects, prototypes, architectural designs, and other original creations.
OpenRockets Press connects young creators with hundreds of publishers and organizations across different countries and disciplines, supporting submissions to journals, competitions, hackathons, and other programs.
The platform's goal is to bring together work created by young people that is otherwise scattered across schools, homes, and local communities, and make it accessible in a single global collection.
